Honouring Legacy, Inspiring Futures: Black History Month at Caring and Sharing

Black history month is about pride.
It’s about the truth.
It’s about never forgetting, and always rising.

At Caring and Sharing, Black History Month is not just a date on the calendar, it is a sacred time of remembrance, recognition, and revival. It is a moment when we pause as a community to honour the legacy of Black excellence, reflect on the realities of Black struggle, and amplify the stories that continue to shape our world today.

We celebrate the Black trailblazers, freedom fighters, creatives, thinkers, mothers, and leaders, those who stood tall, spoke out, resisted, created, built, and persevered. Men and women who rose, despite resistance. Who fought, despite fear. Who paved paths, even when the world tried to block their way.

Through storytelling, workshops, art, performance, conversations, and community events, we reflect on the impact of Black heritage and culture, while spotlighting the ongoing fight for justice, representation, and equity. We also celebrate local voices and lived experiences, our very own community heroes, who are making history every day.

Black History Month at Caring and Sharing is also about education and empowerment.

We use this moment to educate across generations, honour identity, confront injustice, and celebrate the power of Blackness in all its resilience and brilliance.
