Discover, Create & Celebrate
At Caring and Sharing Rochdale (CAS), our Creative Connections programme brings people together through the rich artistic traditions of textile heritage. Through hands-on workshops, we offer an exciting way to celebrate Rochdale’s textile history while enhancing mental well-being, social inclusion, and creativity.
What We Offer
Exploring Textile Art – Dive into the rich heritage of Rochdale’s textile industry through hands-on workshops. Learn traditional textile art techniques, including:
- Tie & Dye – Experiment with vibrant colours and unique patterns to create stunning fabric designs.
- Mesh Transfer – Transfer intricate designs onto fabric using mesh techniques, blending history with modern creativity.
- Block Printing – Explore traditional printing methods by carving and stamping beautiful patterns onto textiles.
Art for Well-being – Creativity is a therapeutic tool that helps with self-expression, emotional healing, and mental well-being. Our workshops provide a safe and welcoming environment where participants can relax, de-stress, and channel their emotions into art.
Community Building – Art has the power to bring people together. Our sessions encourage social connections and cultural exchange, helping people from diverse backgrounds—refugees, asylum seekers, migrants, and BAME communities—to form friendships and a sense of belonging.
Skill Development – Whether you’re looking to develop a new hobby, enhance your creativity, or gain practical textile skills, our workshops provide hands-on learning experiences. Participants leave with not only beautiful artwork but also knowledge of traditional craftsmanship that connects them to Rochdale’s textile heritage.
