Isolation is one of the hardest challenges faced by asylum seekers and refugees. That’s why CAS offers Befriending Services; programs designed to bring people together, reduce loneliness, and build meaningful connections.
From Seniors and Carers Sessions that provide support for older community members and their caregivers, to the vibrant Friends of Shamwari gatherings that welcome everyone, our befriending activities create safe and inclusive spaces for friendship and belonging.

We also run tailored initiatives such as the Feeding Mothers Program, which offers women an opportunity to share meals, experiences, and support in a warm, welcoming environment. Alongside this, our Men’s Space, in collaboration with Cartwheel Arts, provides men with a platform to connect, share, and find solidarity.

At CAS, we know that practical help matters, but so does companionship. Our befriending programs remind asylum seekers and refugees that they are never alone; they are part of a community built on care, respect, and togetherness.
