Last week at CAS highlighted the power of community-led action when civic leadership, youth voices, and grassroots organisations come together. From celebrating young changemakers at a Youth Awards Evening to hosting a Hate Awareness Seminar and engaging directly with civic leadership, the week reflected CAS’ commitment to inclusive, safe, and empowered communities.
Celebrating Youth Voice and Leadership

CAS was proud to attend the Youth Awards Evening, celebrating young people whose leadership and positive contributions are shaping their communities. Beyond recognition, such spaces amplify youth voices and reinforce their role as active stakeholders in community development.
Tackling Hate Through Awareness and Education
During the week, CAS delivered a Hate Awareness Seminar focused on education, dialogue, and prevention. The session encouraged understanding, early recognition of harm, and collective responses that promote empathy, inclusion, and accountability.

Civic Engagement and Community Collaboration

We were honoured to be invited by the Civic Mayor of Tameside, Mayor Shibley Alam, to be part of this important engagement alongside ADUK community-led charities. This invitation reflects the growing recognition of the role grassroots organisations play in shaping policy conversations and community outcomes. Meaningful civic engagement strengthens trust, bridges gaps between institutions and residents, and ensures community voices are present at decision-making tables.
When grassroots organisations are invited into civic spaces, community voices move closer to decision-making tables. Collaboration strengthens trust and ensures lived experiences inform policy and practice.
