Hate Crime Awareness in Rochdale starts with all of us. At CAS, we believe safer communities are built through honest conversations, shared responsibility, and practical action. That is why we recently brought residents and local leaders together to stand united against hate.
Standing Together: Hate Crime Awareness in Rochdale Seminar

CAS hosted a Hate Crime Awareness Seminar at our Rochdale Hub under the theme:
“Standing Together Against Hate: Stories, Solidarity & Solutions.”
The session created space for open dialogue about hate speech, its impact, and how it can escalate into hate crime if left unchallenged.
Hate speech is never “just words.” It damages trust, isolates individuals, and weakens community cohesion. Raising awareness is essential.
By bringing residents, partners, and community leaders together, we reinforced one clear message: hate has no home in Rochdale.
Preventing hate crime requires collective action. Every resident has a role to play.
Here are practical steps we can all take:
- Recognise and report hate speech and hate crime through local channels.
- Challenge harmful language respectfully when it appears in daily life.
- Support victims with empathy and reassurance.
- Promote inclusion in schools, workplaces, and faith communities.
Small, consistent actions make a big difference in creating a safer community.
Community Impact of Hate Crime Awareness in Rochdale
The seminar highlighted the power of partnership across Rochdale. Residents, leaders, and local stakeholders shared experiences and discussed practical solutions.
“Hate crime awareness is not the responsibility of one organisation or one agency. It belongs to all of us. When residents, leaders, and partners work side by side, we create a borough where respect is the standard and hate has no space to grow.”
– Nicky Iginla, CEO Caring and Sharing Rochdale

The message resonated throughout the room. The atmosphere reflected unity, accountability, and shared commitment. This was not just a conversation — it was a pledge to build lasting community resilience.
