One suspicious link. One convincing message. One wrong click. Sometimes, that’s all it takes.
As more of our lives move online, scams and misleading information have become growing concerns. From fake messages to fraudulent offers, it can be difficult to know what to trust. And the consequences don’t always stop with one person; they can affect families, friendships and entire communities.
Knowing how to use technology is one thing. Knowing how to use it safely is another.
Building Safer Digital Citizens at CAS
At Caring and Sharing Organisation (CAS), we believe that learning should prepare people for the realities of everyday life.
During a recent ICT workshop, our learners explored how to recognise online scams, spot warning signs and protect themselves from fraudsters and misleading information.

These skills matter. A moment of awareness could prevent someone from losing money, sharing sensitive information or spreading something that isn’t true.
However, the benefits go beyond the individual. When people share what they learn with family, friends and neighbours, that knowledge can help protect others, too.

That’s the value of community learning: when one person learns, the whole community has something to gain.
As technology continues to shape how we live and connect, creating opportunities for people to build their digital confidence is more important than ever.
Bringing Our Community Together
Building stronger communities isn’t just about learning new skills. It’s also about celebrating our stories, recognising our contributions and creating spaces where people feel connected and valued.
That’s exactly what we look forward to doing at the 9th CAS Black History Month Celebration on 22 October 2026.
Whether you’re in Rochdale, Manchester or the surrounding areas, join us as we celebrate Black history and culture, honour our communities and bring people together for a memorable occasion.
Entry is free, and we’d love to see you there!

Are you a local business, organisation or community group looking to showcase your products, services or initiatives?
We’re welcoming stall enquiries for the celebration. It’s an opportunity to connect with the community, introduce your work and be part of an event that celebrates the people and culture that make our communities special.

At CAS, we believe that informed, connected and supported communities are stronger communities.
From building digital skills to celebrating our shared heritage, every opportunity to learn, participate and connect makes a difference.
Let’s keep learning, connecting and growing together. We look forward to celebrating with you on 22 October!
