This week marked the official resumption of CAS activities for 2026, and we returned with purpose. From reconnecting through our Women’s Befriending and ESOL sessions to receiving generous community support, the week showed that care, collaboration, and shared responsibility drive everything we do.
CAS Programmes Kick Off: Women’s Befriending & ESOL Workshops

One of the key highlights of the week was the restart of our Women’s Befriending Session. The session welcomed women back, provided space for reflection, and strengthened the bonds that make this programme impactful. Staff and participants updated records, reinforced communication channels, and set a positive tone for the year ahead.
Meanwhile, our ESOL workshop focused on building confidence in everyday communication. Participants practiced verbs and adverbs to form clear sentences, equipping them to navigate daily situations with ease and self-assurance.
Highlight takeaway: When people feel supported and equipped—through community connection or language skills—both individuals and communities thrive.
How Community Support Drives Real Impact
This week also showed the power of community partnerships. Winners Chapel International Rochdale donated vouchers, providing immediate support to families in need and demonstrating the impact of collective generosity.
We also want to recognize the recently hosted second seminar on Tackling Anti-Social and Crime Behaviours by the Rochdale Council of Mosques. Local leaders, community advocates, and stakeholders came together to discuss solutions, promoting a safer and stronger Rochdale. Highlighting initiatives like this emphasizes that building resilient communities requires shared effort and collaboration.
Here’s how these actions make a difference:
- Provide immediate relief: Vouchers offer timely support to those who need it most.
- Strengthen shared responsibility: Community events and collaborations reinforce collective efforts to support and protect residents.
- Encourage sustainable impact: Engaging with local initiatives promotes long-term growth and community safety.
Support multiplies when the community acts together.
Listening as Impact
One of the most powerful moments this week came during reflections, where participants shared hopes for the year ahead and expressed appreciation for a space that prioritizes care and understanding. These conversations show why CAS exists — not just to run programmes, but to build belonging, trust, and connection.
“Sometimes, impact doesn’t arrive loudly or visibly. Sometimes, impact looks like being heard.”
— CAS Women’s Befriending Session, 2026

Conclusion
The first week of CAS activities in 2026 reminded us why community matters. As we continue the year, our focus remains clear: supporting women, strengthening partnerships, and creating spaces where care and belonging are non-negotiable.
